Child, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother and Great-Great-Great Grandmother all alive at the same time

A family from Yorkshire, Northern England is thought to be the first ever in Britain to have six generations alive at the same time.

There are only 47 family members, but it is the generations this small family spans which has grabbed the world’s attention; the eldest is great-great-great grandmother, Hilda Hanson, who at 103 years old is affectionately referred to as “little gran”.

The youngest, baby Finley, was just born on 25th December 2016.

Grandmother Sue Godward and her daughter Niki Mellor managed to baffle radio presenters during an interview whilst trying to explain their family tree.

Whilst the UK has the world’s younger mother and youngest grandmother, traditionally British families are very small and span only three or four generations at once.
